• 00:27 Can you save Fred? Challenge-4th Grade Featured

  This week students took on the challenge to try to save Fred- the gummy worm capsized at sea. Fred was stuck on top of his capsized boat with his life preserver underneath. Students worked together to plan and conduct saving Fred. In order to accomplish this, they needed to find a way to turn over his boat, put on Fred's life preserver (a gummy life saver), and put Fred back in his boat. The only tools that students could use were paper clips to move all the objects.

  Students in 7th and 8th grade engaged in Big Paper Conversations to reflect and think critically about a series of etchings or poems highlighting the artist's perspective on differences and how they are viewed by the individual as well as society.

• 1:31 First 2 weeks of 2021-2022

  We spent the first 2 weeks of Science Class establishing class agreements/norms and participated in community-building activities to set the stage for cooperative learning in Science class. We also got to see our class pet lizards again, and were introduced to our new baby slider turtle! Please check out the pics in the slideshow!

  Junior High students spent the first couple of weeks reconnecting with each other in the classroom while reflecting on their individual values and identities through hand self-portraits.

  There is a new interactive bulletin board up at school that features our final project from this school year. I am so glad that even during this pandemic we have found ways to express ourselves, to be creative, and to collaborate. Check out this great project that really shows the connections between storytelling, music, and art. Great work Amelia (5th Grade)!
