Chapter 4 Opener
In this video, students are working with their assigned partner to create an anchor chart for our new math unit: Chapter 4 Multiplication. They were given a word problem that they were having to solve for through completing this task. They even co-constructed a rubric for this assignment with me so that their voices and ideas are captured in how they would be graded.

Gearing Up to Explore Science!
This short slideshow shows some images of how the world of Science is all around us. The pics of the bees were taken by Mr. K at Chicago Botanic Gardens, an ant colony living in a tree brach out on the playground discovered by some students and photo was taken by Mr. M, and of course, our nonhuman specimens in our classroom pond ecosystem with baby fish (small crayfish, a small-mouth bass, 2 rock bass, and a beautifully-colored sunfish all caught from Lake Michigan), and our lovable bearded dragon, Curtiss, who likes to hang out with students, and from the picture I mean literally:)

How does music affect storytelling?
Our line rider project this marking period centered on the essential question "How does music affect storytelling?" We We discussed music in movies, video games, commercials, and in our daily lives. There is a new music bulletin board up at school! It describes our project process and allows you to interact with student work via QR codes! Here is another great example from a Decatur 5th grader, Amelia!
