00:17 Be Comfortable Being Uncomfortable
Throughout the year the students have heard me saying the phrase "Be comfortable being uncomfortable." This has been my Moto since I've come to Decatur. This saying means that in order to grow and get better in certain areas, you need to go outside your comfort zone. For a couple of weeks I joined the 6th grade while they were in their tap unit. I haven't taken a dance class since middle school and have never tapped before in my life. I was pretty nervous going into class and was scared I was going to look foolish. I thought about our Moto though, and went into class without any reservations. I was able to see my students in a different setting, and was able to see how students handled certain situations outside my class.
