CLASSROOM
My goal for my classroom is for students to feel safe and heard. We focus on cultivating an inclusive, multicultural community where intellectual challenge and social-emotional care go hand in hand. We focus on empowering students to embrave their value, leadership and growth.
MATH
In math, my focus is on productive struggle. I like to focus on the idea that math is a process that takes time to practice and hone our skills. Just like practicing a skill in a sport or a craft, math is also a skill that takes practice and struggle to understand. In class we focus on the multiple approaches that students can take to larger problems. Students will work with partners on much of their math practice and utlizie their skills to solve problems at the end of each unit. Students will use the Amplify Desmos Curriculum at one grade level above. (5th grade student will learn 6th grade curriculum).
