Ms. Martino's Bio
Dear Decatur Classical Community-
I am honored to join your family this school year! I was born and raised in Chicago and consider it my life’s work to help create nurturing, supporting learning environments for our children. Throughout my career, I have witnessed first-hand the success that follows when schools create a strong culture and climate that is student-centered, values the work and commitment of teachers as professionals, and treats families and community members as partners. Joining the Decatur community as Assistant Principal, I will work relentlessly to ensure that I positively contribute to such a climate and culture.
For the past five years I have served as the Mathematics Manager for CPS, overseeing PreK through 12th grade strategic initiatives in math for the District. I am proud to have led a team that has had a notable impact on equity and achievement for our students in Chicago. In my role, I have had the privilege of working with and learning from national leaders and researchers in education. I look forward to leveraging this experience to help enhance the great work the Decatur team has already done in creating a culture of social, cognitive, and individualized development.
While I grew up in Hyde Park and spent most of my life as a southsider, I now live in Ravenswood with my husband Matt, our son Nolan, and our dog. As a four time full marathon finisher and avid CrossFitter, I will never shy away from a physical challenge. When I’m not at work or at the gym, most of my time is spent cooking and entertaining family and friends.
