Dear Decatur Community
Today, Decatur was honored as one of 367
National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2020. The Blue Ribbon is a prestigious award that recognizes the hard work of educators, families, and communities. Blue Ribbon schools are extraordinary places: safe and welcoming environments where children master challenging and engaging content at high levels.
For Decatur, this honor comes at a time when our country and community have undergone so much. It is a ray of hope, inspiration and validation. For years, we have worked to build a school that is not only high achieving but student-centered, where our values and approach matter as much as our results. It is very meaningful for this work to be recognized nationally as an example of what a community school can be.
This award reflects the tremendous dedication and innovation of our teachers, our students’ love of learning, and our shared commitment to exploration and perseverance. I’m extremely proud of this meaningful achievement.
