Enrollment in Decatur Classical School is by application, CPS socio-economic guidelines and examination. Children between the ages of five and eleven are eligible to apply. Those who perform in the 8th or 9th stanines in reading comprehension and mathematics problem solving are accepted on a space available basis. Kindergarten students are accepted by the highest raw score in accordance with CPS socio-economic guidelines.

The Decatur PTA (Parent Teacher Association) is a member of the National PTA. Our annual Membership Drive Kickoff starts with the “Welcome Back Donuts & Coffee” on the first day of school. A family membership is $15.00 for the entire year. Your dues help the PTA fund many of the events, clubs and opportunities available at Decatur. Plus, enjoy your free admission to the “Round Up” on September 11th with every paid membership.

In the Classroom * Students work one-two grade levels ahead and use the Harcourt Reading Textbook and the Harcourt Math Textbook. * Students have regular visits to the Computer Lab, Science Room and Library; and enjoy PE in both the Multi-Purpose Room and the JCC Gymnasium. Student's also have regular language, tap and music lessons.
