Week of January 8, 2018
Happy 2018! I hope that you had a wonderful break with your children!
Writing: Students used their persuasive writing skills to give their opinion of their favorite hot chocolate recipe. We also learned about the history of hot chocolate.
Math: We started our next chapter on factors, multiples and patterns. Students are doing a great job differentiating between factors and multiples.
Science: Students learned about soil, why it’s important as well as qualities of soil. Did you know that there are over 70,000 different types of soil in the USA? Wow!
Chicago History Project: Students were given a topic choice paper Wednesday. This is due on Tuesday. Students should think about what topics interest them as well as choosing a topic that has plenty of information. Next week we will start researching in class. Students are not expected to research at home. During 3rd quarter, students will bring home their research as well as an information packet describing how to put their information on a display board as well as information about their oral report. This will be the 3rd Quarter Home/School Connection project.
Students were assigned the 2nd Quarter Home/School Connection project and brought home the project guideline sheet on Thursday. I think that they will have fun choosing their project and being creative while learning more about factors, multiples and patterns. This project is due on January 30, 2018. I have attached a copy of the requirements and rubric.
Have a wonderful weekend!
