We completed our winter NWEA MAP testing in language arts on Wednesday and I was very please to see that students took their time and did not rush through the test. This week we finished up our pre-reading activities for Al Capone Does My Shirts and began reading the novel on Friday. Students were very eager to start this new and exciting book in class. Additionally, we started learning the important skill of note taking this week. We focused on important skills like the exposition of a story, character voice and point of view, new figurative language tools like allusions and oxymorons and finally the difference between an inference and predictions.
Please check Google Classroom with your child for a new annotation rubric for this book as well as an assignment list for next week.
