Principal’s Newsletter: Summer Updates
Parents,

I wanted to share some of the EXCITING changes taking place at Decatur Classical this year.

In lieu of a technology position at Decatur, the LSC voted to use our budget to purchase new ipads and chromebooks for classrooms. This fall Decatur Classical school will be ‘1 to 1’, which means that students and teachers will have access to technology in their own classrooms.

Additionally, we are going to launch a parent run library. Jeannie Strong has volunteered to lead this project. Please email decaturvolunteer@gmail.com if you’re interested in helping with the library. I am eager to work with Jeannie and her team.

As you may have read in the paper, Decatur lost one teacher and one special education teaching assistant. I’d like to wish Ms. Lynne Chueng and Ms. Patricia Hare all the best in their new endeavors.

Mr. Pfest accepted a new teaching position at Edison Park Elementary for this coming school year. While I know he will be missed, I hope you will join me in wishing him much success in his new position.

Please be sure to check emails and our website for more updates. I will share final staffing organization and new hires soon. I’m working to consolidate all the contact information and appreciate your patience. Once the school year begins, I’ll send a weekly Principal’s Newsletter in place of ‘take home Tuesday’ folders. Check your SPAM folder if you haven’t received these newsletter¬†updates yet. If you need or prefer paper copies, email me to opt-in for paper communication only. All documents will also be available online for printing.

Have a great weekend,

Yolanda

The LSC approved a $150 student tech & supply fee. This year, the fee will cover all of the necessary supplies, workbooks, and a minimum of 2 field trips. This will include pencils, folders, novels, technology, tissue, etc. All you have to bring is a book bag on the first day!

You can pay your supply fee in the main office or send with your child to school. We will also accept payment at the Back to School picnic. If you need to pay in installments, can only pay a portion of the fee, or if you need a waiver, please email me and complete the student waiver form.
