Parents: An emergency contact form has been sent home today. As a safety measure for your child, every school must have information that can be used to contact you. Make any necessary changes or additions using the form and return it to me. Thanks!

Our class will be having a party on Thursday 12/21 from 1:15 to 2:15. Our room parent, Linda Coenen is organizing this. If you are interested in volunteering and helping, please let her know at lpcoenen@gmail.com! (We would like 4-5 volunteers to organize a craft and help run the party!)

On Friday 12/22, our class will be watching a movie in the afternoon. This will be an earned activity. I will let you know the movie choice soon!

Ms. Luna has included this information in her weekly email. I have attached the two documents in my email to you this week. If you would like to opt out of sexual health education, please let Ms. Luna know.

Parents,

Each year schools are required to teach sexual health education to students in K-8th. Typically, this happens towards the end of the year. Schools are required to notify parents about the curriculum (attached), so please read this letter (attached) and let me know in writing if you would like to opt your child out of the curriculum. Teachers and I will continue to send reminders and timelines closer to the spring start date.

If you have specific questions regarding the content or how your teacher will present the information, please contact your classroom teacher.

A LOOK AT OUR WEEK
MATH: Chapter 5 was a short one, so we finished the lessons on Wednesday, reviewed Thursday, and took a test on Friday.
READING & LANGUAGE ARTS: We did a project on The Chocolate Touch.

We also read a story about blizzards and focused on sequencing and cause and effect.

In grammar, we learned about contractions. Finally, we wrote the final copy of our How-To essay!

SCIENCE: We continued chapter 4 about plants. This week, we learned about the different parts of a plant and the purpose they serve.
SOCIAL STUDIES: We continued learning about the government. This week, we focused on learning all about the judicial branch.
