Classroom Expectations & Policies:
Room 102 – Miss Cole – 2nd Grade

Welcome! I am very excited to be your child’s 2nd grade teacher this year. Our focus this year is all about working responsibly independently, with others, or as a whole class. As we work throughout the year, students will have conversations with myself and their peers and I will ask students to reflect on their own growth.

Expectations:

I expect students to endure challenges, be present, and take care of each other. I want students to be willing to work through challenges and not be afraid to make mistakes. Students should come ready to learn every day and be part of our classroom community. Finally, I want to the students to work together as a team to solve problems and make learning fun!

Communication:

I will send out a weekly email to you with the highlights from our learning during the week and any notices of upcoming tests, project due dates, or other important information. This information will also be posted on my blog on the Decatur website – http://www.decaturclassical.org. I am available for any questions or concerns via email and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Please allow 48 hours during the week to reply to your emails but most of the time I will get back to you much sooner.

Grading:

Classwork/Assessments:

  • Please sign your child’s assessments and return them to school. This is an important communication between parent and teacher about your child’s development.  I will make sure that all assessments have a stamp on them so you are clear which ones to sign and return with your child.
    • Students that receive a 69% or lower on an assessment or classwork will do a retake and the highest score will be put in GradeBook.
    • 60% will be the lowest grade entered in Gradebook for any classwork or assessment as long as a student completed their work. 50% will be the lowest grade given if NO work was completed.
