Hello families!

 

This will be my fourth year teaching Kindergarten at Decatur! I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and have my BS in Early Childhood Education from Miami University, Ohio and MEd in Early Childhood Education with a concentration in English as a Second Language from Erikson Institute.

 

My passion with serving others and education led me to serving in the Peace Corps in the Philippines. During my time there I worked with K-6 students focusing in English and Reading and initiated various community projects. My time there also led me to meet my husband, Luis! Upon returning to Chicago, I worked at Latin School of Chicago in their Junior Kindergarten program before joining the Decatur community!

 

My favorite thing about teaching young students is being able to witness their incredible social-emotional, and academic growth in the classroom. I feel grateful to be able to cultivate a welcoming and inclusive community of young learners here at Decatur.

 

When I am not teaching, you can find me spending time with my husband exploring Chicago via our bicycles and spending time outside. I also enjoy reading and cooking various vegetarian/vegan meals.
