Happy New Year! I hope everyone had an enjoyable break. In fourth grade this week students have been learning about essential questions. Essential questions develop higher order thinking and critical thinking skills. Next week we will explore supporting questions. In addition, fourth graders have been learning about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. They have watched a video and are currently working on a detailed packet that includes his childhood, family, education, and publications. In fifth grade students have  been creating tombs similar to the ones found in Egypt. They have selected a person and created a biography. Next they developed blueprints of the passage-ways, and corridors; which were essential to prevent tomb raiding. The tombs include artifacts needed in the afterlife. Some students have built models, others have drawn pictures   Additionally, some students have created slideshows. They will be presenting these reports next week and we’re excited to see the final products.
